Some days ago we mentioned the Twilight Deck in an article, and we promised that we'd come back with an article about the way it works. Well, here we are with an in-depth look on the deck! If you are interested into learning how it operates, keep on reading!
Let's make our presentation with the well known Q&A Structure (Questions & Answers).
What is that deck and what cards does it involve?
The Twilight Deck is a combination of the Lightsworn Deck's most powerful monsters and some great DARK Monsters. It is also supported by cards that operate well when in the graveyard, such as Necro Gardna, and it includes cards like Card Trooper which will help the player fill his graveyard easily.
What's the purpose of the Deck?
The purpose of the Twilight Deck is to fill the graveyard with the proper cards, in a fast pace, so that the controller can bring out fearsome monsters that include the graveyard in their Special Summoning Condition, like Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning (which just got unbanned and limited) or Judgment Dragon (which just got unlimited). During the process, the controller can manage to weaken the opponent really easily, with cards like Celestia, Lightsworn Angel or Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress!
What are the deck's advantages against other Meta Decks?
An important quality that the deck has during this format is the fact that it can be really fast, if set-up correctly. If you manage to set your graveyard properly before it's too early, you will be able to swarm the field with your terrific monsters and wipe your opponent's life points out, before he even gets to make a plan! Furthermore, as mentioned above, it has the ability of getting rid of the opponent's backrow really easily, preparing the road for the "Big Bosses".
Are there any cards that can harm the deck irreparably?
Irreparably? Not really. However, the deck may have some serious problems caused by a very evil card: Starlight Road! Starlight Road is a trap card that will negate the activation and the effect of a card that destroys 2 or more cards on your side of the field. But that's not it! It will also Special Summon a Stardust Dragon on your side of the field! Now, if you wonder "Will you ever manage to pull this off?". Let me answer that with a few names: Celestia, Lightsworn Angel, Judgment Dragon, Treacherous Trap Hole, Dark Hole, Heavy Storm! Yeah, these are cards that are used in the Twilight Deck (some of them more than one time)!
So, here you are! You now know what the deck's about, how it works and its strong & weak points. We'll talk again about The Twilight Deck in the next article, this time about the Basic Engine & The Decklist!
Until then,
- Adreus.
