As we all know, in 13 days the new format will instantly begin, along with a brand new banlist (which we all are already aware of). This means that the metagame will change and many decks that currently are Top Tier will see much less play. In this article, I'm writing my personal opinion on the decks that we will be seeing during the next format. Let's begin.
The first deck that will see much play during the September 2011 Format is the deck we've been talking about these past days. Yeap, you're right, Dark World! As we have already proven, this deck will have a big impact on the game and will be used by several players. Thanks to its ability to control all types of monsters: High beatsticks, Synchros and Xyz Monsters, it can be considered as one of the best decks of the format.
Another deck that will be seeing much use is Tour Guide Zombies. This deck uses the basic Zombie Engine, along with the well known card Tour Guide from the Underworld, in order to unleash a number of Synchro and Xyz monsters at the same time and vanish the opponent's life points. Thanks to the newly banned Royal Oppression, this job will now be done much more easily.
Moving on, we find Agents. That deck was not hit by the banlist and since it can easily bring out powerful synchros (like Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier), useful Xyz monsters (by using the Mystical Shine Balls), a fascinating beatstick with a great effect (Master Hyperion) and a Special Summon Blocker/Beatstick (Archlord Kristya), it will prove to be a very powerful one! Being able to combine aggressiveness with control, Agents will be seen a lot in the top Tournament tables.
Last but not least, we've got Twilight! Unlimiting Judgment Dragon, Unbanning Back Luster Soldier and Semi-Limiting Necro Gardna and Tragoedia were all what was needed for the reborn of this deck to be achieved. Imagine a very fast deck, able to eliminate every single defense of the opposing side and simultaneously special summon strong monsters with broken effects. It would be really cool, wouldn't it? Well, here it is! The twilight!
The 4 Decks described above are the decks that I personally believe will see the most play during the next format. But that does not mean that they will be the only decks able to win Tournaments! Other decks that will make interesting appearances are the following:
Gladiator Beasts: A Hero Lives and Rescue Rabbit gives this deck the chance to spam its basic Fusion Monsters really easily.
Worms: Still being a control deck, worms can mark their way to victory with the use of the Worm Monsters, combined with Anti-Meta cards, such as Thunder King Rai-Oh or Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo.
Tech Genus: Another control deck, which, with the use of one of the best TCG Exclusive cards - Reborn Tengu, and cards like Skill Drain or Horn of the Phantom Beast can prove to be victorious in many matches!
X-Sabers: This deck was not hit by the banlist, so it can still use the combined powers of aggressiveness and control to win. And if you think that Heavy Storm will be a terribly huge problem, here's my answer: Starlight Road!
Rescue Rabbit Dinos: Another deck that focuses on the use of Rescue Rabbit and the brutal Xyz Monster Evolkaiser Lagia (coming in Photon Shockwave) will definitely be used by many players during that format! Get prepared for Xyz Swarming!
Gadget Variants: Whether its offering gadgets, or any other type, this deck can spam a vast number of Xyz Monsters which will be more than enough to eliminate the opponent's defense and life points!
So, that's it with the decks of the following format. As proven above, this format will be a diverse one, so it will be really fun having to play against a variety of decks! All we have to do now is just wait until September 1st and the upcoming YCS Event!
