In the previous article we talked about the Basic Dark World Engine with which everybody begins the construction of his deck. Now we will see the different Types of the Dark World Deck and their strategies.
The Adreus Spammer
A brand new Xyz monster was recently published in the GENF Booster and nobody can deny the fact that not only it is a great beatstick but also has a great effect. Since the Dark World Deck is a deck in which that card can be easily special summoned, people tend to run Sillva, Warlord of Dark World and Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World in order to achieve it. Sillva and Goldd are two Level-Five Dark World monsters that are special summoned on your side of the field when discarded to the graveyard. This means that if you succeed to special summon two of them on your side of the field, you get 2 strong attacks and later on a strong monster with promising stats and a great effect. Since both, Sillva and Goldd, have 2300 ATK points, another card that is usually run in decks of that type is Deck Devastation Virus, which we’ll refer to as “DDV”. DDV requires the tribute of a 2000 ATK DARK Monster on your side of the field, in order to provide you with control over your opponent’s hand for 3 turns. But that’s not just it! It also destroys every monster with 1500 or less ATK at your opponent’s hand and side of the field.
That’s one of the Dark World Deck versions, which runs 2 Goldds, 2 Sillvas and any number of DDVs. We’re now moving on with another DW Deck Type, the ‘Tour Guide to the Dark World’.
The Tour Guide to the Dark World
As you have obviously understood, this DW deck type relies on the brand new EXVC Effect Monster, named Tour Guide from the Underworld. That monster allows you to special summon 1 Level-Three Fiend Type monster from your hand or deck, with absolutely no cost. This means that it provides you with an instant plus. Furthermore, this card is a Level Three monster, which means that it will allow you to proceed with an Xyz summon, after special summoning the Level-Three monster from your hand or deck. That’s right, all these with just one card. So, you may now wonder, how does this help the Dark World Theme? In the dark world version that runs this card you probably need Sangan and a bunch of Rank-Three Xyz Monsters. By summoning Tour Guide, you get to Special Summon Sangan or Broww, Huntsman of Dark World (Remember! Broww is a Level Three Fiend Type one!). Afterwards you get to Xyz summon any ‘black card’ that provides you with the appropriate help, needed at that time. The most common choice is Leviair the Sea Dragon. This card’s effect special summons a Level 4 or lower Removed from play monster, on your side of the field, by detaching a material (you can detach Sangan so that you can use its effect and add another Tour Guide or Broww to your hand). Remember about the Field Spell card we talked about, in the previous article? The cost to activate it is to remove from play one Fiend Type monster from your graveyard. With that being said, I suppose that you get my point! That’s the whole ‘Tour Guide Xyz Play’. But that’s not all the assistance that this card can give! If you run out of Dark World monsters, this card can immediately give you a Broww from your deck, which you can bounce back to your hand, so that you can Special Summon your greatest beatstick from your graveyard (provided that it’s already there), Grapha, Dragon Lord of Dark World! Let’s now proceed with the next Dark World Deck Type.
The Miller
That’s right, the miller. This version of the Dark World deck is slightly less consistent than the others, and can prove to be very fatal during the game. However, with the proper mills, you might find all the keys to victory in now time! As you might have already understood, this deck uses useful cards like Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter or Card Trooper in order to use their exceptional effects and in the same time mill cards from the deck to the graveyard. In this way, you’ll get to fill your graveyard with useful Dark World monsters that can be instantly used. For example, you can send Grapha to the Graveyard and then special summon him, or find the proper cards needed to pay the cost of The Gates of Dark World. But this will be the best scenario, since you won’t really enjoy milling cards such as Solemn Warning or your Field Spell. In summation, despite the fact that this deck type can really help you fill your graveyard with the proper cards in a fast pace, its lack of stability may be the winning key… for your opponent! And now let’s see the last DW Deck Type!
The… Dark World!
I decided to give that name to this type, as I really didn’t have any other, better ideas. This deck type is the normal DW Engine, with other basic dark world cards and key cards (which will be discussed at the next article). The reason why such decks can’t be categorized is because they don’t have a specific purpose, unlike the other 3, they are just using the Basic DW Engine in combination with other cards in order to achieve victory.
So that’s it! These are the 4 BASIC Dark World Deck Type that’s you’ll see everywhere around you during the next format, since the Structure Deck will be published during that time. See you at the next article about the Basic Key Cards that will help you in your Dark World Deck!
