Dark World Cards Clarifications, Part 2: Card Texts

Continuing what we began Yesterday, we'll talk about Card Texts at an old Dark World monsters, as well as a new one. I noticed that there was much struggle between players trying to figure out what their monster's effect truly does (all that due to the new Problem Solving Text). So let's take the cases one by one.

Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World
Goldd's Old Text:
If this card is discarded from the hand to the Graveyard by a card effect, Special Summon it. If this card is discarded from the hand to the Graveyard by your opponent's card effect, you can select up to 2 cards your opponent controls and destroy them.
Goldd's New Text:
If this card is discarded to the Graveyard by a card effect: If it was discarded from your hand to your Graveyard by an opponent's card effect, you can target up to 2 cards your opponent controls; Special Summon this card from the Graveyard, then destroy those cards (if any).
What seems to confuse a lot of players, is whether Goldd will special summon itself if it is not discarded by an opponent's card effect or not. Try reading the text now, after we split the effect into two parts, and you'll find the answer!
If this card was discarded from your hand to your Graveyard by an opponent's card effect: you can target up to 2 cards your opponent controls; Special Summon this card from the Graveyard, then destroy those cards (if any).
If this card is discarded to the Graveyard by a card effect: Special Summon this card from the Graveyard.
This means that if this card is discarded from the hand to the graveyard, it will special summon itself, no matter who used the effect to discard it. The difference is that if the effect is your opponent's, you get to activate an additional effect.

Snoww, Unlight of Dark World
Snoww's Text:
If this card is discarded to the Graveyard by a card effect: If it was discarded from your hand to your Graveyard by an opponent's card effect, you can target 1 monster in your opponent's Graveyard; add 1 "Dark World" card from your Deck to your hand, then Special Summon that target (if any) in face-up Defense Position.
Now, let's try reading its effect by splitting it to two parts.
If this card was discarded from your hand to your Graveyard by an opponent's card effect: you can target 1 monster in your opponent's Graveyard; Special Summon that target (if any) in face-up Defense Position.
If this card is discarded to the Graveyard by a card effect: add 1 "Dark World" card from your Deck to your hand.
Same with Goldd, no matter who discards it, Snoww will search your deck for a Dark World card. But if an opponent's effect caused you to discard it, not only do you get to search for a card, but you also activate its second effect.

I hope I managed to make my point by the examples above. In the next article about Dark World Cards Clarifications, we'll talk about Summoning, as far as Dark World Monsters are concerned.
Until then,
- Adreus.
