Hello everybody! This is a new type of Articles that I'll be writing every now and then, beginning from today! Since this is a blog, and not youtube, I cannot offer you the pleasure of watching matches and duels. This is why you will now be able to read them, right here in our blog! Today, I chose the most interesting matches at locals, from the Top 8 to the Finals and wrote down every single move, so that you can enjoy reading them in full analysis. So I say it's time you begun!
Duel 1
Both duelists rolled the dice, and the Chaos Player won with a three. He opted to go first. The Chaos player Normal Summoned Doomcaliber Knight and ended his turn with no further plays. The Vayu player Normal Summoned Blackwing - Sirocco the Dawn and attacked DCK. In Main Phase 2 he used Pot of Duality, revealing Another copy of Sirocco, Burial from the Different Dimension and Icarus Attack. He decided to keep the Burial, set 1 Spell or Trap and ended his turn. The Chaos player drew for his turn and activated Smashing Ground to destroy his opponent's monster. Afterwards, he Normal Summoned Thunder King Rai-Oh, but his opponent responded with Torrential Tribute. But the Chaos player had more than 1 tricks up to his sleeve! He banished the two monsters from his graveyard to Special Summon Chaos Sorcerer and attacked with him directly, before ending his turn. The Vayu player began his turn by drawing and then using Allure of Darkness, which let him draw 2 cards and banish Armaggedon Knight from his hand. Then, he Special Summoned Dark Grepher by discarding Sirocco and Normal Summoned Card Trooper and called priority. With Trooper's effect he milled Destiny Hero - Malicious, Icarus Attack and Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter. He ended his turn after setting one card to his backrow. It was the Chaos Player's turn who activated Heavy Storm to destroy his opponent's face down Icarus Attack. He Normal Summoned King Tiger Wanghu and entered his battle phase, in which he sacrificed his monster to destroy his opponent's Grepher. In Main Phase 2 he used Sorcerer's effect on Trooper and ended his turn. The Vayu player just set 1 card in each zone and ended his phase. The Chaos player Normal Summoned Dimensional Alchemist and used his effect to banish Chaos Sorcerer from his deck and boost Alchemist's attack. He then attacked with both monsters, destroying his opponent's set Blacking - Vayu the Emblem of Honor and dealing 2300 Life Points Damage to him. The Vayu Turbo player knew that the beginning of his end had already begun, but he had to do anything he could to prevent it from coming! He Normal Summoned Blackwing - Zephyros the Elite and used Vayu's effect from his graveyard, by removing itself & Sirocco, in order to Special Summon Blackwing - Armed Wing! Moving on, he flipped his set Burial and returned his banished monsters to his graveyard. But they wouldn't stay there for too long, since he banished them once again to Special Summon a second copy of Armed Wing! Entering his battle phase he sent one of his Armed Wings to clash with Chaos Sorcerer, destroyed the Alchemist with his second copy (an action which allowed the Chaos Player to add Chaos Sorcerer at his hand) and attacked directly with Zephyros, before ending his turn with no further plays. It was a really intense and interesting turn, but it was all over when the Chaos Player Special Summoned Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning and Normal Summoned Dimensional Alchemist.
A BLS Top-Deck helps the Chaos Player win the first duel of the match and being a win nearer to the Semi Finals! Both duelists dove in their Side Decks and after some changes the Vayu player opted to go first.
Duel 2
The Vayu player kicked things off by setting a face-down Monster and ending his turn. The Chaos Player drew for his turn and activated Pot of Duality, which revealed Smashing Ground, D.D. Crow and Torrential Tribute. After some thinking he decided to keep the Smashing. Next, he Normal Summoned Thunder King and attacked his opponent's face down Sangan! Disappointed, the Vayu player moved his Sangan at his Graveyard, without adding any cards from his deck to his hand. The Chaos player ended his turn after setting a Spell or Trap Card. The Vayu player Normal Summoned Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind and used its effect on Thunder King, but when Gale tried to kill Thunder King, the Chaos Player responded with Dimensional Prison, thus removing the Black-Feather creature from play! The Vayu player ended his turn right after setting a Spell or Trap. The Chaos player Normal Summoned a second copy of Thunder King during his turn, but he lost both of his copies to his opponent's Torrential Tribute. He then activated Pot of Duality, revealing Banisher of the Radiance, Mystical Space Typhoon and Caius the Shadow Monarch. After adding the banisher to his hand he ended his turn. The Vayu player did nothing more than setting one monster and ending his turn. Back to the Chaos Player, who Normal Summoned his Banisher and attacked his opponent's face down Necro Gardna, thus removing it from play. He then ended his turn and play was back to the Vayu player who started by using Pot of Duality which revealed Card Trooper, Reinforcement of the Army and Return from the Different Dimension. He picked the Trooper, Normal Summoned Sirocco and destroyed his opponent's Banisher by battle. Having done all the above, he ended his turn and the duel continued with the Chaos Player activating Smashing Ground to destroy the Vayu Player's Sirocco. Afterwards he discarded D.D. Crow to banish Sirocco from his opponent's graveyardd his turn and the duel continued with the Chaos Player activating Smashing Ground to destroy the Vayu Player's Sirocco. Afterwards he discarded D.D. Crow to banish Sirocco from his opponent's graveyard. This way, he managed to get the proper materials needed for the Special Summon of Chaos Sorcerer to be achieved. He declared a direct attack with his monster and then ended his turn. Back to the Vayu player, who Normal Summoned Card Trooper, activated its effect by milling Solemn Judgment, Pot of Duality and Vayu, and ended his turn. The Chaos player just banished the opposing Trooper with his Sorcerer's effect and ended his turn. The Vayu player Normal Summoned another Card Trooper and used its effect once again, but this time it was more effective! Having milled Gorz the Emissary of Darkness, Pot of Duality and Burial, the Vayu player had gathered 3 DARK Monsters at his Graveyard. That meant that he could now Special Summon Dark Armed Dragon, and so he did! He called priority and used DaD's effect on Chaos Sorcerer, by removing Sangan from his graveyard. Afterwards, he declared an attack with Card Trooper but his opponent Special Summoned Battle Fader and ended the Battle Phase! In Main Phase 2, the Vayu player banished Gorz to destroy and banish Battle Fader, and then ended his turn. Luckily enough, the Chaos Player top-decked Dark Hole, which he used to destroy his opponent's 2 monsters (the Vayu player drew a card for Trooper's effect). He then Normal Summoned Banisher, made a direct attack and ended his turn. The Vayu player drew a card and then Normal Summoned Sirocco which got over the Banisher. He ended his turn, and so did the Chaos Player a few seconds later, after setting a Monster. The Vayu player attacked into a face-down Dimensional Alchemist, which brought Battle Fader back to the Chaos Player's hand. He then set 1 card to each zone and ended his turn. The Chaos Player set 1 Spell or Trap Card and ended his turn. The Vayu player flipped his set Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter and destroyed his opponent's set Dimensional Prison! For some reason he opted not to mill - probably forgot it - and proceeded by using Vayu's effect in his graveyard. But the Chaos Player had another D.D. Crow to use, and Vayu got banished before bringing Armed Wing! Next, the Vayu player entered his battle phase, attempted an attack with Ryko but his opponent Special Summoned the Battle Fader he had previously taken and ended the battle phase once again! But all that fader did was postponing something inevitable, as a few turns later the Chaos player conceded.
Some interesting mills and aggressive play gave the Vayu player the second duel. The one who would win the third, and last, duel would move on to the Semi Finals, a step closer to the prizes!
Duel 3
Having lost the previous duel, the Chaos player opted to go first. He Normal Summoned Banisher and set 4 Spell or Traps! "Seriously?", his opponent remarked. Play passed to the Vayu player, who set 1 Monster and 2 Spell or Traps before ending his turn. The Chaos player drew for his turn and used Pot of Duality, which revealed Thunder King Rai-Oh, Chaos Sorcerer and another Banisher. He kept the Thunder King and shuffled the rest cards back to his deck. But once he tried to Summon the monster he added to his hand, his opponent responded with Icarus Attack, tributing his set Sirocco in order to destroy the opposing Banisher & TKR. Having nothing else to do, the Chaos player ended his turn, and so did the Vayu player after setting 1 Monster. The Chaos Player drew for his turn and passed. The Vayu player drew as well, set another monster and passed as well. Back to the Chaos Player, who Normal Summoned Wanghu and destroyed a set Necro Gardna after attacking it. He ended his turn and the Vayu player drew. He tributed his face down Plaguespreader Zombie to set a monster and then Flipped Icarus Attack! He tributed his newly set Sirocco to destroy his opponent's face-up King Tiger and set Solemn Warning! Afterwards, he used Monster Reborn in order to bring back Sirocco, but his opponent responded with Bottomless Trap Hole, therefore removing the Blackwing from play. Done for that turn, the Vayu player ended his turn, but so did the Chaos player as soon as he drew a card which didn't seem to help at all! But the same didn't happen to the Vayu player, as he activated Pot of Duality, which gave him these three options: Dark Grepher, Bottomless Trap Hole and Gorz. He chose the Grepher, shuffled the other two cards back to his deck and Special Summoned Grepher by discarding Destiny Hero - Malicious. After taking a moment to consider his next move, he used Grepher's effect to discard Sirocco and send Vayu from his deck to his graveyard! He entered his battle phase and after attacking into his opponent's Dimensional Prison, he ended his turn. The Chaos player drew for his turn but once again passed without making any plays! What could he possibly be drawing all this time? We would soon find that out! The Vayu player activated Heavy Storm, destroying his opponent's last set card: Mirror Force! "Oh, God!", shouted desperately the Chaos Player. The Vayu player then used Vayu's effect, banishing Sirocco and Vayu from his graveyard, in order to Special Summon Armed Wing! He entered his battle phase, declared an attack and after dealing 2300 points of battle damage to his opponent, the Chaos player Special Summoned Gorz and a 2300 ATK Token in attack position! Terrified, the Vayu player ended his turn. The Chaos player attempted an attack with Gorz against Armed Wing, but Necro Gardna in his opponent's graveyard made sure that it wouldn't go through! That's why he sent his Token to clash with Armed Wing and ended his turn with nothing but a face-up Gorz against an empty field! That was an important advantage, but the Vayu player couldn't afford to lose the match! He used Malicious' effect in his graveyard, by banishing him and special summoning another copy from his deck. Then, he put a card at the top of his deck to Special Summon Plaguespreader Zombie from his graveyard. That's when he realised his missplay (he should have done these two moves in the opposite order, as his next draw wouldn't help at all), but he still had chances of winning! He Synchro Summoned Red Dragon Archfiend, attacked Gorz and ended his turn disappointed. The Chaos player drew for his turn and a few moments everything was over, as he Special Summoned Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning. The players extended their hands and congratulated each other for that intense match!
Once again, the Chaos Player wins the match with the help of a card that recently returned from the dead, the well-known BLS! Thanks to him, he would move on to the Semi Finals, where he would face a Twilight deck!
Stay tuned until that match,
- Adreus.
